So this is permanence

On the Saturday, 23rd November 2024, the team behind the Alles Post- MusikFest! music festivals will be returning to organise a Joy Division tribute evening at the X-TRA Musikcafe in Zurich. The evening will have four bands on the line-up performing cover songs from Joy Division, a record/vinyl market and a post-concert DJ.

Joy Division along with New Order have always been two of my favourite bands for about two decades now. It was through the Heart and Soul boxset that I discovered Joy Division and their whole catalogue. Since then I’ve been to see tribute bands, New Order a couple of times, Peter Hook and the Light live twice (most recently in Strasbourg in November 2023) and collected most of the books written by the band members.

Although Joy Division is an English band and this blog is about the music scene in Switzerland, the line-up consists of bands from the Zurich region - it sees Alles Post- MusikFest! reuniting with ANGER MGMT. - see our interview with them here for the 2024 edition of the festival - and Jëkoff Sedofski, who featured on our first playlist and played on the first festival. Completing the line-up are Vague Visions, who I have only discovered recently and look forward to checking out more of their music, and the potentially one-off band, Radio Isolation. For the latter, there is not much information on the internet but it consists of Dominican Republican Zurich-based musician, Sr. Reyes on bass, vocals, drum and synth programming, and myself (yes, myself!) on electro-acoustic ukulele. We have been busy preparing our setlist over the last few weeks and are looking forward to it.

Hopefully the evening will be a successful one, mainly as it would allow the Alles Post- MusikFest! team to continue to build and more importantly to put on more shows in the future to showcase bands from the music scene in Switzerland.
