Alles Post- MusikFest! Interviews with the bands (part two)

As part of the build up to the Alles Post- MusikFest!, we contacted the bands on the line-up to find out more about them.

Here are our interviews with ANGER MGMT. and Winter in Deutschland.

ANGER MGMT.

Tell us about yourselves. How would you describe your music?

We are an alternative rock/post-punk band from Winterthur. I think our music is not easy to put into one genre. Our music is loud and wild but sometimes also very vulnerable and quiet.

Who/what are your influences?

Pretty much everything that has influenced us in the last 15-20 years. Punk bands like IDLES, grunge bands like the Smashing Pumpkins or Nirvana, emo bands like Sunny Day Real Estate, German punk bands like Turbostaat or pretty much the whole discography of the Swedish band Rotten Mind. We all come from different styles and I think that's what makes us different and you can hear that too

You recently released a couple of new singles, Anything Ahead and Echoes, could the audience expect other new songs at Alles Post?

Aren't just 2 new songs enough for you? I'm just joking.

We will surely play the two new singles and some from our album, which is only 1 year old, so still fresh and still available on vinyl and CD.

Are you currently working on a follow-up album to 2023’s Anger is Energy.

There will definitely be a new album but not in the next few months. I think ANGER IS ENERGY has aged quite well so far.

You were at last year’s Alles Post- MusikFest! as spectators, how does it feel to be on this year’s line-up?

I was there last year as a visitor and thought the atmosphere was great. At this point I have to mention that the guys from Jëkoff Sedofski did a really good job. I've known them for 10 years. We met at a concert at Gaswerk Winterthur and I think it's incredibly nice that we are still friends today and share a passion for music. I’m a big fan of their music and their aesthetics and this love they have for music can also be seen at the Alles Post- MusikFest! with the decoration, the visuals and the hospitality.

Winter in Deutschland

How would you describe your music?

It's hard to say. We do what we can (we're not very good musicians but we try to be clever). We have a preference for post-punk, cold-wave and overall alternative music, so we can say we're playing "hip-post-punk" (even if it's not accurate)...

Who/what are your influences?

The overall alternative wave culture, with preferences for Wire, Minimal compact, Beak... the list would be too long to summarize!

You have been together for over a decade now - what have been the best moments/highlights?

- The beginning of the band with minimalist recording sessions in the living room which turned to parties (we are a little bit more serious now...)

- When a song appears and we're working on it...

- As we are all quite busy, we appreciate meeting up for rehearsals every week...

- We have also met some great bands, great people for whom we played first parts (Agent Side Grinder, KVB...).

You released two records independently, Winter in Deutschland and Motel Limité, would you do the same for future albums?

Yes, certainly (but this time we'll get some help from a sound engineer...). We try to keep the rhythm of an album every five years. We already have material that we play live but which isn't recorded yet (as we do all by ourselves with limited technical resources, it takes a lot of time). The next album will be technically harder to record because we have a drummer for two years now (Marc, he played at our concert in Martigny last month). We'll begin the recording this summer and hope it will be out around the end of 2025.

What can we expect from your live shows?

Good question... We would claim to be the New Objectivity but the "specialists" class us in the "Art Brut" category. Every gig is unique and uncertain but we try to communicate some emotion and energy.

This will be our first gig in German-speaking Switzerland but we played once in Austria a few years ago in a dark music festival (a great exotic moment for us).
